Presenting Bengali Literature in English, Canada, Saturday, 18. November 2017

Statistics say that about one hundred thousand Bengali people live in Greater Toronto Areas and the adjacent cities. A huge part of them were and still are literary activists too. But sorrowfully it is observed that most of the people of the second generation of the Bengali community are unable to read Bengali. The parents are anxious that their children are getting disconnected with the Bengali values and spirits, remaining unaware of their parental history and heritage.
So, Bengali Literary Resource Centre (BLRC) Inc, a non-profit based in Toronto, is initiating a year-long initiative which will involve about one hundred Torontonian Youths to read Bengali literature translated in English.
BLRC believes that this project will help create venues for some youths living in Toronto and adjacent cities to know more about Bengali values and spirits, history and heritage. BLRC hopes this project will make the participants more interested about Bengali literature and culture.
