Come find out what the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada has been up to! New this year, participants will get the chance to decorate luminary bags that will then be lit up on the course. There are limited luminary bags available and will be provided on first-come-first-serve basis starting at 4:15 pm. With this we try to limit one luminary bag per team/family. Feel free to bring photos, stickers or any other items to decorate your luminary bags.

Join us at the Main Stage and dance and groove to a live performance by the band Quickness, with an exciting variety of fun rock covers. Music will play from 4:15 pm – 8: 30 pm with a break for the Remembrance Ceremony and Main Stage speeches from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm.

Enjoy a delicious BBQ’d smokie from Grimms/Freybe or a veggie dog from Loblaws/Superstore as well as some other tasty treats at our Food Tent starting at 4:15 pm.

If you are attending Light the Night in memory of a loved one who passed away, we hope that this is a meaningful experience for you. Light The Night can be surprisingly emotional experience as people remember the impact of blood cancer on so many lives and feel the support of such a large community of people. The overall atmosphere of the Light the Night walk is upbeat with music and a lot of action, but there are also some solemn moments of remembrance along the walk route, from the main stage and in the Memory Tent. The memory tent also provides the opportunity to pick up your Survivor Pin and chat with peer support volunteers about the LLSC community.

Memory Ceremony at 5:30 pm - You are invited to come to the Memory Tent at 5:30 pm for a brief remembrance ceremony with music, words of reflection and a candle lighting ceremony. Candles will be supplied by an LLSC volunteer.

Remembrance Scrapbook - We have a 12” by 12” scrapbook where you can add a page in honour of your loved one. You are welcome to bring a photo or momento to add to the book. We will have a limited supply of scrapbook supplies available to complete your page.

The forecast is calling for sunshine and clouds. The event will take place RAIN OR SHINE and we will be dressed for the weather. We recommend wearing warm clothing and shoes, as it is an outdoor event and the grass can be damp even when the sun is out.

We encourage guests to take public transit or carpool when accessing the park. Limited paid parking is available in Stanley Park. The parking lot of the Vancouver Aquarium is the closest parking lot to the event grounds, with alternative parking near the Miniature Railway and Malkin Bowl.

The walk route is approximately 3km around the Stanley Park seawall and starts at 6:30 pm. Parts of the walk can be quite dark, so feel free to bring an extra flashlight. Volunteers will help guide along the walk. The route will be decorated and a snack tent will be providing refreshments.

PLEASE NOTE: Many of our staff will be busy preparing for this event and may not be able to reply to your emails tomorrow (Friday, October 13th). If you have any questions, please call the office directly at 604-733-2873. The office will be closed on Saturday, October 14th.
